Unpaid Work At Home Done By Men And Women

Figure 1 shows the average time spent weekly by men and women doing unpaid work at home. Table 1 shows the proportion of work type at home by men and women in percentage. Generally, women spend more time and share a higher proportion in doing unpaid work at home.

The average time spent weekly doing unpaid work at home by men is recorded unchanged at about 18 hours even though they have no children, one to two children or more than three children. The highest percentage of unpaid work at home doing by men is household repairs, that is 30% while childcare was just 10%. However, women was different with men. Women spent the most time in childcare, that is 35%, but household was just 5%. For women, the average time spent weekly doing unpaid work at home is experienced a rise even though they have no children, one to two children or more than three children.

In conclusion, women have more responsibility than men because women spend more time and share more proportion in doing unpaid work at home.
